Letter to Commissioners and Supervisors (July 12, 2018)

This letter is from Captain Maurice (Mo) Gauthier, U.S. Navy (ret).

My family owns property in New Kent County in the Barhamsville area,…

The intent of this letter is to make four points. The first point is to remind the Commissioners and the Supervisors of the New Kent County’s exceptionalism due to thoughtful planning and the enticing rural environment available to current and prospective New Kent County citizens. The second point is the inappropriate nature of the Curtis Security Consulting (CSC) CUP-02-18 request and how our elected officials, without representation of the Hamlet of Barhamsville, afforded Curtis Security Consulting access to the County Supervisors prior to receiving County Staff and Planning Commission evaluation. The third point is to illuminate the visibility this application has across the entire county by sharing some of the names of the residents whose signatures appear on our engagement letter with the law firm of LeClair Ryan. The fourth point and conclusion of this letter is a simple reference to the New Kent County Comprehensive Plan and the ultimate question you as decision makers must answer before sealing the fate of your constituents and neighbors.
